As a kid, were you tucked into bed with the phrase ”sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite!” We were too. And we didn’t put much thought into it in our childhood, but now this is a thought that crosses our minds often. Do we have bed bugs? Can bed bugs exist on surfaces other than our mattresses? How can I get rid of bed bugs if I do have them?
Well, worry not, readers. We’re here to answer all of these very important questions.
Bed bugs can enter your home in a number of ways, including by hitching a ride on a houseguests luggage, or clothing or they might already be on the furniture you purchased off of Facebook Marketplace. There’s no telling where that furniture has before it enters your home. And yes, bed bugs don’t just keep to beds and mattresses. They’ll make themselves at home on any surface that resembles a mattress, such as your couch, recliners, chair cushions, carpets, and any other upholstered surface in your home.
So now that you’ve discovered you have bed bugs inside of your home, it’s time to stop them from spreading and then get rid of them entirely! Some bed bug cases are too severe to be able to treat on your own. To determine this, the EPA recommends keeping these questions in mind:
